IDN Registrars

yea !

it’s time to register your 1st idn :D

Fortunately there are several good idn registrars . I will mention the best idn registrars that i deal with them and have good experience with them.

Starting from my favourite registrar , DynaDot

DynaDot :

  • One of the most famous idn registrars on the web.
  • Offer a great support
  • They also offer Bulk prices for big domainers and also for starters (if you are a starter you can benefit from DynaDot bulk prices by depositing $500 into your account).
  • The control panel is so easy to use andhas all the advance options that you would ever need.
  • Offers a grace period
  • visit DynaDot

Domainsite :

  • Domainsite is also one of the big registrars in the IDN world .
  • Renew fees are cheaper than Dynadot.

Miniker

  • a famous registrar and
  • Offers a grace period

There are more registrars , but i used to stick with these major ones , and my favourite one among them is DynaDot with their easy-to-use interface and cheap prices besides their great support.

What is punycode?

Punycode is a way to represent international domain names with the limited character set (’a'-’z', ‘0′-’9′) supported by the domain name system. For example “m?nich” would be encoded as “mnich-kva”.

An IDN takes the punycode encoding, and adds a ‘xn--’ in front of it. So “m?nich.com” would become “xn--mnich-kva.com”.

What is an IDN ?

IDN stands for Internationalized domain name.

internationalized domain name (IDN) is an Internet domain name that (potentially) contains non-ASCII characters. Such domain names could contain letters with diacritics, as required by many European languages, or characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Chinese. However, the standard for domain names does not allow such characters, and much work has gone into finding a way around this, either by changing the standard, or by agreeing on a way to convert internationalized domain names into standard ASCII domain names while preserving the stability of the domain name system.

IDN has, by the standards of the Internet, a long history; it was originally proposed in 1996 (by M. Duerst) and implemented in 1998 (by T.W.Tan et al). After much debate and many competing proposals, a system called Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) was adopted as the chosen standard, and is currently, as of 2005, in the process of being rolled out.
